Add your patterns
Tap + in your Library to pick PDFs, a whole folder, or scan a paper pattern with your camera. You can also share a PDF to Hooked from Mail, Safari or Files.
Bring in your PDFs and Hooked sorts, tags and keeps them — ready to read with yarn in your hands.
Everything Hooked does happens on your iPhone or iPad and in your own iCloud. Here's the quick tour.
Tap + in your Library to pick PDFs, a whole folder, or scan a paper pattern with your camera. You can also share a PDF to Hooked from Mail, Safari or Files.
In Settings, Bring In My Pattern Collection takes a folder of hundreds of PDFs. It keeps going while you browse, and even if you switch apps for a while.
Hooked fills in the category, difficulty, designer and yarn weight. When it isn't sure, the pattern gets a gentle Needs a look so you can check it — only if you want to.
Hooked remembers your page and zoom. Open Tools for a row counter, a reading ruler, Keep Screen On, Dim When Idle and Night Pages.
Your patterns live in your own iCloud, so they're backed up and appear on your other Apple devices signed in to the same account.
No ads, no subscription, no account. There's an optional tip jar in Settings — tips never unlock anything.

Adding patternsHooked keeps your patterns in your iCloud, so you need to be signed in. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and tap Sign in at the top (or your name, then iCloud, and make sure iCloud Drive is on). Come back to Hooked and the buttons turn on by themselves.
You can still add a pattern by hand with Add manually in the meantime.
Tap + → Add a whole folder, or use Settings → Bring In My Pattern Collection. Every PDF inside the folder (and its sub-folders) comes in. Tap Keep Using Hooked to browse while it works — a little note above the tab bar shows the progress.
No. Before anything is added, Hooked checks which patterns you already have and offers to skip them — nothing is downloaded twice. Exact copies are always caught, and “printer friendly” versions are kept with their pattern instead of cluttering your library.
No — every pattern is saved the moment it's done. Just add the same files or folder again; Hooked skips the ones already in your library and adds the rest.
Hooked wasn't completely sure about a detail, like the designer or difficulty. The pattern is already saved — you can check it from the Library's Needs a look filter whenever you like, or ignore it.
Open a pattern, tap Tools and turn on Row Counter. Tap + and −; drag the counter anywhere on the page. Press and hold the number to reset it. Each pattern remembers its own count.
That's Dim When Idle: with Keep Screen On, Hooked lowers the brightness after 2 minutes without a touch to save your battery. Touch the screen to brighten it, or turn it off in Tools.
Yes — Tools → Night Pages darkens the page. (Photos in the pattern will look inverted while it's on.)
Tap Undo right away — it stays on screen for a few seconds after you delete. If it's gone, add the PDF again.
Its details are safe. Add the original PDF again with + — Hooked recognizes it and repairs the pattern instead of adding a copy.
Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and open Hooked on each one. Big libraries can take a little while to arrive the first time.
Settings → iCloud Sync shows whether sync is on and how much space your patterns take.
No. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and Hooked has no server. Automatic tagging happens on your device. Read the full privacy policy.
Only the AI Apple builds into your iPhone or iPad. It suggests titles and tags, helps search, and reads the pages you scan, all on your device. Your patterns are never sent to an AI service or used to train one. Read the full privacy policy.
Nothing — Hooked is free and everything in it stays free. Tips are an optional thank-you to the one person who makes it. Apple handles payments and refund requests (reportaproblem.apple.com).
You can send a pattern's PDF to print it, save it to Files or send it to your own devices. Please share designers' patterns only as their license allows — Hooked has no public sharing or marketplace.
Hooked is made by one person, for their partner and every fiber artist who wants a calm home for their patterns. The same promises are in the app, under Settings → Our Promises.
Found a bug, have an idea, or want your data deleted? Hooked is made by one person, and every message gets read.
